WhatsApp has rolled out email address support in their latest update. Previously, this feature was available to beta testers only. Now, it is live for all users.
Adding an email address links it to your WhatsApp account. If you ever lose access to your phone number, you can use that email address to get back into your WhatsApp account so you do not lose your chat history and contacts.
To add an email address in WhatsApp, follow these steps:
- Open WhatsApp Settings
- Go to Account > Email address
- Enter an email address
- Verify with the code sent to your email
- The email address is now verified and linked to your WhatsApp account
