Below are 11 features that have been rumored to be on the iPhone 15 Pro models. However, these features are not expected for the iPhone 15 Plus or standard iPhone 15.
- A17 chip: iPhone 15 Pro models will be equipped with Apple’s next-generation A17 Bionic Chip. This chip is manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process to improve performance and efficiency. Expect an A16 Bionic chip in the iPhone 15 standard and iPhone 15 Plus.
- Titanium frame: The iPhone 15 Pro models will use a titanium frame, just like the Apple Watch Ultra.
- Ultra-thin, curved bezels The iPhone 15 Pro will feature ultra-thin, curved bezels around its display.
- Faster USB C port: iPhone 15 Pro models feature a USB C port with support for at least USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt 3. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the device would have significantly faster data transfer speeds using a cable than existing iPhones with Lightning. Kuo stated that the USB-C port found on standard iPhone 15 models would not be extended to USB 2.0 speeds, like Lightning.
- WiFi 6E: The iPhone 15 Pro will support WiFi 6E to get faster wireless speeds. This is according to a leaked schematic.
- Increased RAM The iPhone 15 Pro models are equipped with 8GB RAM. However, the 6GB RAM standard models will likely remain as they are currently. Apps like Safari can keep more content open in the background and prevent the app from reloading when the tab is reopened.
- Solid-state buttons: iPhone 15 Pro models, Kuo said, will have solid-state volume buttons and power buttons. According to Kuo, the devices will have two Taptic Engines, which provide haptic feedback and simulate the sensation of pressing buttons. This is similar to the iPhone SE Home button or the older MacBook trackpad.
- Mute buttons: iPhone 15 Pro models may have a mute BUTTON to turn the ringer ON/OFF. Every iPhone has a mute button.
- iPhone 15 Pro Max to get a higher optical zoom: According to Kuo, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a periscope and telephoto lens. The device could have at least 6x optical Zoom instead of the 3x available on iPhone 14 Pro models.
- More Powerful LiDAR Scanning: iPhone 15 Pro models now have a more powerful LiDAR scanner from Sony. According to Kuo, this could increase 3D depth scanning performance for AR applications and Night mode photos.
- Dark Red Color Option: According to 9to5Mac, iPhone 15 Pro models will have a new dark-red color option.
Additional features will likely be added as the iPhone 15 series gets closer to launch. In addition, iPhone 15 Pro will also get a price hike, as Tim Cook also talked about it in a recent earnings call. This would be the first time Apple will increase their phones’ prices since the iPhone X release.
